On March 20, employer hubris reached absurd levels in the form of pennies and rabid audacity when Georgia resident, Andreas Flaten, received his last paycheck from his former employer in pennies, reported The Telegraph.
Sound petty? Just wait. The pennies were greasy and dumped at the end of his driveway.
As with all pettiness, there’s a story.
Flaten was employed by A OK Walker Autoworks in Peachtree City, Georgia, last year. At some point, he decided he wanted to quit and gave a two-week notice. According to the Instagram account @ox-isms, which belongs to Flaten’s girlfriend Olivia Oxley, his boss treated him poorly once Flaten resigned and at the five-day point, Flaten had enough. Flaten turned in his uniforms with a letter explaining why he was ending his employment early. That was in November.

Miles Walker, Flaten’s former boss, failed to mail the final paycheck that Flaten was due in the amount of $915 and claimed there was damage to the shop. After waiting for months, Flaten contacted the Georgia Department of Labor and as expected, that caused his wayward employer to take action.
On a Friday night, over 91,515 pennies were dumped at the end of Flaten’s driveway. They were covered in some type of oil. On top of the mound of pennies was a note that said, “F*** you” and his last paystub.
Flaten has spent hours trying to clean the grease off the pennies with a concoction of soap, vinegar and water, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
“It’s going to be hours upon hours of just thing to clean this money up so that it’s even able to be spent. It’s definitely not fair at all,” the man told the news outlet. For now, he keeps the pennies in a wheelbarrow in the garage between cleaning sessions.
What does Walker have to say about this?
He said he paid Flaten in legal currency (true) and that he has no desire to be a part of the story. At least, that’s what he said to Fox 5 Atlanta.
When asked about the situation by WGCL, he said, “I don’t know if I did that or not, I don’t really remember.” He later followed up with, “It doesn’t matter he got paid, that’s all that matters, he’s a f*****g weenie for even bringing it up.”
Since this incident made news, another former employee at A OK Walker Autoworks has come forward with her own account of the toxic workplace that Walker was responsible for. “He said you think you have a bigger d**k than any of the boys, well we’re going to prove that right now, and he decided to depants me in the lobby and thought it was funny,” said Cerena Wandersee.
This situation was just the exposure that Walker deserved. Needless to say, Flaten is much nicer than we would ever be under the circumstances.
