On Friday, Miami police have arrested a suspected serial killer in connection with the deaths of two homeless men and the shooting of another man.
Twenty-five-year-old Miami-area real estate agent Willy Suárez Maceo is thought to be responsible for the murders of Jerome Antonio Price, 56, and another unidentified homeless man. He was also charged with attempted murder after shooting another man in the head, but the Miami Herald reported that the victim survived.
On Tuesday evening, Suárez Maceo drove near downtown Miami in a Black Dodge Charger where he reportedly opened fire on the man. The victim had no recollection of what had occurred. Two hours later, the publication reported that the suspect allegedly pulled up on a sleeping Price on a sidewalk and blasted shots from a 9mm Glock, killing the unsuspecting victim in Wynwood. A nearby surveillance camera caught Price’s murder. Suárez Maceo has not been charged yet for Price’s death.
Police also believe the real estate agent is connected to another homeless man’s October death. Fifty-nine-year-old Manuel Pérez was killed on October 16, and surveillance footage from that location showed a man who resembled Suárez Maceo.
Miami Interim Police Chief Manuel Morales said at a press conference on Thursday night, “Homeless individuals for no reason have been brutally targeted. They felt the pain and injustice suffered at the hands of a brutal individual.”
Morales credited Miami detectives who quickly connected two of the attacks. Suárez Maceo failed to conceal the license plate on his vehicle– giving Miami police the lead it needed to capture the suspect.
Suárez Maceo was found in his car with a Glock in Kendall on Wednesday. Ballistics testing linked the gun to the shootings. Investigators also indicated they found bullet casings on the suspected serial killer.
Judge Alberto Milian determined that there was enough evidence to charge Suárez Maceo with “premeditated attempted murder.”
He also remanded the man to jail without bond.
According to Suárez Maceo’s Facebook page, he hails from Centro Habana, Cuba, and graduated from Miami Sunset Senior High School. His Instagram page detailed that he was a hustler. He worked as a licensed realtor for Century 21, an entrepreneur with a fledgling fashion line and dabbled in cryptocurrency.
The handsome, unassuming man had a concealed weapon permit and often posted videos showing his guns. He had no previous arrests.
