Schlitz graduated high school at 13 and was accepted into 17 universities.

She gained national attention when she was accepted to 9 law schools when she was just 16-years old. The law schools she was accepted into– included SMU Dedman School of Law, Texas Tech University School of Law, Howard University School of Law, University of Houston Law Center, Southern University Law Center, Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, St. Mary’s University School of Law, University of North Texas Dallas College of Law and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.

She is also a published author. In 2019, Haley and her mother, Dr. Myiesha Taylor, published their book The Homeschool Alternative, which captures their experience as a homeschooling family and provides resources to Black families on incorporating homeschooling.

“Homeschool forced me to learn how to work from a syllabus, move forward, and meet deadlines. It gave me the freedom to learn at my own speed,” says Schlitz.

While studying law, at 17-year-old, Schlitz was chosen to be a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, making her one of the youngest delegates that year.
