Two suspects were found squatting in a Maryland apartment after the residents returned home from vacation, police said.

Authorities have released photos of a black man and white woman, hoping the public can identify them after fleeing the residence, Fox 5 DC reported.

According to the Greenbelt Police Department, the residents left their apartment in the 9300 block of Edmonston Road on March 28 to go on vacation. When they returned on April 5, the victims discovered the front door was damaged, and the apartment was primarily empty. The residents told the police that the apartment was fully furnished when they left.

Police said when the victims walked into the apartment, they found the two suspects lying on a bed, the only piece of furniture left in the apartment. One of the victims leased the unit while the other victim was reportedly staying with her.

The two unidentified women said the suspects told them they had stolen all of their belongings and became aggressive with them before fleeing the scene.

The outlet spoke to one of the victims, who recalled having nightmares following the incident and reportedly didn’t leave the apartment for a week.

“Not only were they in my home, but everything in my home was gone except for my bed because he details how he loved my bed so much. And I’m like, who are you? And he says my name. He’s like you didn’t pay your rent. I’m like, what are you talking about? I paid my rent.”

The woman said she tried to leave, but the male suspect stopped her.

“He tackles me, and I’m like, ‘sir, this is my home. You not gone let me leave?’ He’s like, ‘no, I’m just saying you not gone call the police. I’m going to give you your apartment. You just not gone call the police.'”

The woman captured the male suspect on video as he started packing his things while explaining how he got into the apartment. She also stated that she doesn’t know where her belongings are — about $50,000 worth of items.

“I just couldn’t believe this was happening to me. I see this on TV,” she said. “They really took over my apartment, and I was just trying to remain calm. But at the same time, I just couldn’t believe this was happening to me. I come home, and literally, two people are in my bed relaxing.”

The woman said the apartment complex is allowing her to break her lease.
