The Mississippi Oxford Police Department and the University of Mississippi campus police are on the hunt for a missing Ole Miss student named Jimmie “Jay” Lee, who disappeared on Friday, July 8, around 5:58 a.m. The student was last seen leaving the Campus Walk Apartments in Oxford, driving a 2014 black Ford Fusion with a Mississippi license plate number “JAYLEE1.”

According to the University of Mississippi, Lee is 5 feet 7 inches tall, 120 pounds, and has black and blonde hair and brown eyes. Lee was last seen wearing a gold robe or housecoat, gray slippers, and a gold sleeping cap.

The Oxford police have been continuously updating the public on their search. On July 11, they informed the public that Lee’s car was located at a tow company. The vehicle was removed from the Molly Barr Trails apartment complex on July 8. Police suspect Lee was meeting someone at the apartments.

Police announced on July 12 that CrimeStoppers pledged a $1,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to Lee’s discovery. They also stated their tactics to find Lee.

“The departments are utilizing all available resources to track tips, potential witnesses, speaking with friends, running search warrants, canvassing areas, and collecting evidence,” Oxford officials stated.

July 14, they released updates on their progress, claiming that they’ve followed every tip given to them and that Lee’s car was transported to the Mississippi State Crime Laboratory to be processed.

“Around a dozen search warrants have been executed on both physical and digital entities. We are still waiting on some of those entities to return information back,” police said. “Numerous interviews of various individuals have been conducted. Yesterday, officers with OPD, UPD, Lafayette County Metro Narcotics, and the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue team and their K9s searched specific areas within Oxford.”

In a video, Lee’s father requested that anyone with any information regarding his son’s whereabouts come forward and say something. He described Lee as a hard worker and generous to all, claiming he organized a drive to collect necessities for babies and toddlers.

“I’m asking that if anyone knows anything or sees anything, say something,” he pleaded. “Contact the law enforcement. Just tell them what you know.”

Those with any information, no matter how big or small, can contact the Oxford Police Department at 662-232-2400, the University Police Department at 662-915-7234 and CrimeStoppers at 662-234-8477. Direct messaging Oxford police on their social media is also an option.
