Shaun King threatened New York Post reporters, Isabel Vincent and Kevin Sheehan, alleging they put him and his family’s life in danger.
According to reports, Shaun threatened to share Isabel and Kevin’s personal information via Instagram on Aug. 3. In his posts, he alleged that the reporters published his address, exposing his family to possible white supremacist attacks.
“To Isabel Vincent of the @NYPost, you posted my house online,” he wrote in the caption of his first post addressing Vincent. “And [you] caused white supremacists to show up at my doorstep to terrify my wife and kids. You interrupted our entire lives doing so. You knew that would happen when you published my home. But you did it anyway. And you did it without consequence. I know where you live.”
His second post addressing Kevin was shorter, but a portion of its caption mimicked the initial one.
“To Kevin Sheehan of the @NYPost. Just to be clear. Like you and your peers at the NY Post have done to me and my family…I know where you live...You can attack me. And giggle about it to your peers. That’s fine, but I’m going to at least make it uncomfortable for you. You aren’t going to post about my personal life without consequence.”
The 42-year-old’s gripe with the two journalists has reportedly stemmed from articles they wrote in which they questioned the source of Shaun’s expensive purchases.
In July 2021, Isabel wrote a piece about the activist’s then-new $842,000 home in North Brunswick, N.J. Over a year later, on Aug. 2, Kevin co-wrote a story alleging Shaun bought a $40,000 guard dog using donor funds from his Grassroots Law PAC. The articles were no surprise, as naysayers have questioned his fundraising strategies. Reporters have said that he was even allegedly accused of scamming customers who purchased merchandise from his private clothing line.
Shaun also faced backlash in the past for allegedly disrespecting Black women, including Samaria Rice–the mother of police brutality victim Tamir Rice. In June 2021, Samaria exposed him for lying regarding claims that he never raised funds for any family without their consent. She debunked his claims in an interview with Newsweek, mentioning Shaun by name when he raised $60,000 in donations for Tamir without her consent.
Over a year later, Shaun has insisted that he’s had it with critics and declared revenge “for the pain and misery that people have caused” his wife and children.
“I’m going to start redistributing that pain right back to you. That’s my word,” he wrote. “I’ve been far too kind to all of you that have disrupted my life and made my wife and kids cry. Cross my family again and see what happens.”
