Ijeoma Ukenta’s the woman whose video of a frantic white woman inside of a Millburn, New Jersey Victoria’s Secret store went viral, has now raised over $100,000 in donations to help her cover legal fees.
As News Onyx previously reported, Ukenta, a Black woman, claimed that Abigail Elphick tried to hit her and that as soon as she began being filmed, the woman was hysterical.
In the video, Elphick is seen changing from an aggressive state to a victim as she falls to the ground and starts crying, begging Ukenta not to record her.
The Millburn police department was called by Elphick, who said she had a panic attack after Ukenta began recording due to her fear of being fired for being caught in a mental breakdown on camera.
Ukenta claimed she had to continue recording to have evidence that would exonerate her if she were accused.
The officers arrived but did not take Elphick away from the store because there was “no legal precedent to do so based on the circumstances.”
Displeased with the officers’ work that day, Ukenta took to filing a complaint with the department about the officers who are now under investigation.
Victoria’s Secret later released a statement on Twitter addressing the issue. It said, “Associate and Customer safety is our top priority, and we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all,” they wrote.

The woman made a GoFundMe account following the incident to “hire me an excellent attorney,” who could help her “bring light to this wrong.”

Ukenta has currently raised $105,211.
Neither Ukenta nor the Karen has been charged.
