A white teacher from St. Landry Parish in Louisiana was arrested and charged with simple battery in connection to an incident between her and a student.
KLFY reported that Opelousas High School teacher Patricia Brignac is facing one count of simple battery after the brazen educator allegedly pushed and yoked up a Black pupil wearing a Black Lives Matter sweatshirt.
The incident occurred on March 4, according to KATC.
Opelousas Police Chief Martin McLendon told the news outlet the woman has “involvement in an incident where a student, wearing a Black Lives Matter sweatshirt, was grabbed and pushed.”
Parents of the student informed the school about the incident, and administrators called notified the authorities.
Chief McLendon told KLFY that the initial inquiry into the situation determined that Brignac asked the boy to take off the sweatshirt because it was prohibited at school.
“When the student advised that he had been given permission by a member of the school staff. Brignac allegedly grabbed the student’s shirt and pushed him,” the chief officer said.
The court issued the thug teacher a summons to appear, according to KLFY.

According to the school’s bullying policy (pg.30), students and teachers have a duty to uphold the written order that prohibits the behavior says, “The pattern as provided above must have the effect of physically harming a student, placing the student in reasonable fear of physical harm, damaging a student’s property, placing the student in reasonable fear of damage to the student’s property, or must be 26 sufficiently severe, persistent, and pervasive enough to either create an intimidating or threatening educational environment, have the effect of substantially interfering with a student’s performance in school, or have the effect of substantially disrupting the orderly operation of the school.”
Brignac violated the policy.
The penalty for committing simple battery is a fine of up to $1,000 or jail for six months or both.
