A Louisiana State Police trooper has resigned from his post after allegedly brutally assaulting a Black man in Monroe, Louisiana, in 2019.
According to KALB, Jacob Brown left the position on March 10 after being arrested and sued for using excessive force against Aaron Bowman during his arrest following a traffic stop.
Bowman recapped the traumatizing events during a December press conference, the outlet reported.
“Every time I got ready to speak, he would hit me with the flashlight,” said Bowman.
The man filed a lawsuit against the state police in September last year.

Court documents obtained by News Onyx detailed that Bowman was stopped in his Monroe home’s driveway on May 30, 2019. Troopers approached his vehicle, and Bowman maintained that he kept his hands in plain sight. They asked if he had weapons or drugs, to which he replied no.
Former State Trooper Brown allegedly struck Bowman in the head and ribs with his department-issued flashlight after officers dragged him from his truck. The aggressive trooper hit Bowman almost 20 times within 24 seconds of making contact with him, the court documents specified.
Although body camera footage was used in the investigation into the beating, Bowman’s girlfriend, Tiffany Criff, had a surveillance camera at her home, which recorded the officers becoming aggressive with her beau. He was not aggressive, the document disclosed.
According to KALB, it took over a year-and-a-half for the department to arrest Brown for the assault. He was arrested on Dec. 10 and charged with second-degree battery and malfeasance in office.
