Anthonia Egegbara was arrested at the Times Square subway station on October 5 after she allegedly pushed a woman from behind while a train pulled in, nearly hitting her.
According to the New York Post, video footage released by the New York Police Department (NYPD) showed when Egegbara, who wore a scarf and was perched on a bench by the platform and suddenly stood up and pushed the victim as the train rolled in.
The victim then struck onto the side of the oncoming train, but to her luck, landed outside the tracks. Instead, she fell onto the platform and from injuries that botched up her face and legs as a result.
Police said that the two women reportedly did not know each other, and the incident seemed unprovoked.
“This unprovoked attack was senseless and absurd. The City needs to provide additional mental health services to assist those who may endanger themselves and others,” MTA acting chief communications officer Tim Minton said in a statement. “The NYPD’s rapid identification and arrest, in this case, makes riders safer.”

Egegbara, a resident of Far Rockaway, has a long history of criminal acts dating back ten years, according to officials.
The woman was also caught for turnstile jumping only a month ago, and In July, she was arrested for allegedly scratching a woman on the cheek during an altercation.
Before that, she was charged with grand theft in April after she allegedly stole a cell phone out of someone’s hand and ran away on a train.
In June of last year, Egegbara was reprimanded for having ruined a door with a hammer. In July 2019, she was arrested for another unprovoked assault where she punched an older woman in the face multiple times and beat her while she lay on the ground.
Her first run-in with the law came in November 2011 when police say she punched a teenage woman in the face numerous times and bit her middle finger.
The victim of the subway attack has been taken to Bellevue Hospital and remains in stable condition.
