An Ohio woman has reportedly been missing from Warrensville Heights since July, leaving her mother and local police scrambling for information related to her disappearance. According to her mother, many of 19-year-old Audreona Barnes’ belongings have been left behind, and her phone has since been shut off, Cleveland 19 News reported.
Warrensville Heights Det. Gregory Curry discovered through speaking with Army recruiters that Barnes was allegedly picked up and dropped off at her boyfriend’s house prior to her disappearance, according to Cleveland 19 News. Barnes had begun making plans to join the U.S. Army before she went missing.

“I know that speaking with the recruiters, they picked her up at the boyfriend’s house in Cleveland. They then dropped her back off there,” Curry reportedly said about the investigation. “They just don’t know if she went back into the apartment or if she walked away.”
After attempting to talk to Barnes’ boyfriend, Curry claims that the man refused to discuss anything with him or his partner and told them that he hates police before asking for a lawyer and leaving for his apartment building, Cleveland 19 News reported.
Adding even more mystery to Barnes’ 3-month long disappearance, Curry said, “I know the mom’s boyfriend got a text from Audreona stating that, ‘Hey, can you come pick me up at a gas station?’ I believe it was a marathon gas station. The problem is where she was staying at, at Warner Road and Cleveland, there is no gas station on that street.”

In the months since her disappearance, her mother, Akua Avegnon, has also been searching for her daughter. Claiming that her daughter’s last known location was at Barnes’ boyfriend’s home, she told Cleveland 19 News about several unsettling details, adding, “Her phone has been turned off since then. And this is very much unlike her. She doesn’t have anything. Her shoes are at home. All of her clothes are at home. She had no money, so where did she go,”
