Some 1990s Gen-Xers who were wild during Freaknik’s heyday but are now mature and professional adults, perhaps settled and respected, want to sue Hulu in hopes of blocking the documentary that could tarnish their reputations.

A group of distinguished Black professional women, a politician, three high-level corporate executives and a judge, all believed to be in their 40s and 50s, subtly referred to as the Freaknik Aunties, are trying sue Hulu to block the release of the film, Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told.

The identities of the alleged women are anonymous, but some reports, notably from the gossip blog Media Takeout, have indicated that one of the petitioners is an executive-level manager within a company who has seen videos of herself in an “unflattering” position.

It would be advised to take MTO’s reporting with a grain of salt.

The woman in question is said to be earning more than a million dollars a year and has a family of three children with her husband.

As Sister 2 Sister previously reported, Freaknik was an annual spring break event in the 1980s hosted by Atlanta HBCUs Morehouse College, Clark University, Spelman College, Morehouse Medical School, and the Interdenominational Theological Center.

The small Atlanta HBCU picnic that exploded into an influential street party got perverted into a freaky Mardi Gra-esque event and was eventually banned in 1996.

The plaintiffs who filed the lawsuit against Hulu in federal court in Atlanta, most of whom are believed to be women, say the upcoming film is illegal because they did not sign media releases.

However, there is no need to obtain a release for footage taken in a public place, so there may not be a need for legal permission to use footage of the alleged freaky women.

The freak events were recorded on camcorders, and some of the footage was used in a documentary said to be from 1994 and produced by musicians Jermaine Dupri and Uncle Luke.

Not to mention, there is already footage of Freaknik on social media.

In anticipation of the movie, Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, was spotted recording a woman on all fours in a skimpy bikini. A far cry from who he is today, a gossip leader who runs a private Christian school.

Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told is set to debut on Hulu in 2024, with a possible release date in mid-April. Next April will mark the 40th anniversary of the famous 1994 Freaknik celebration.
