An Indianapolis family is devastated and looking for answers after a man killed four family members over a woman’s stimulus check, according to FOX 59.
Malik Halfacre is accused of shooting his young daughter with ex-girlfriend Jeanettrius Moore, Eve, and murdering Moore’s brother, Daquan, her mother, Tomeeka Brown and her cousin, Anthony Johnson, on Saturday evening.
In an interview with the news outlet, Wendy Johnson, Moore’s cousin, said that the alleged cold-blooded killer’s motive was financial.
“He wanted some of Jeanettrius’ tax money, stimulus money. She had just got her money, and he wanted half of her money,” she said.
FOX 59 reported that the cousin got details of what happened from Moore– one day prior to the senseless murders. She disclosed that Halfacre wanted half of the $1400 stimulus check, but Moore argued that the lowlife wasn’t entitled to any of it.
She finally offered him $450.
“She said, ‘No, you don’t deserve any of this. I work. I take care of our child. You don’t do anything,’” Johnson explained to the local news station.
But the 25-year-old felon insisted Moore give him half of the check.
“She said, ‘I’ll give you 450. Take it or leave it.’
“He said, ‘I’m gonna get that money.’”
Halfacre returned to the house with a gun. Johnson continued with the harrowing description of what happened inside the house.

“He shot Daquan first. He shot Anthony. He turned around, and he shot my Auntie Tomeeka. My Auntie Tomeeka said, ‘Malik!’ and he shot her again,” the woman detailed. “He came back and shot Daquan for the second time and somewhere between, little Baby Eve got hit somewhere, and she was screaming. She was screaming.”
Johnson said Moore told her how Halfacre went back into the house to get a bottle to calm the baby.
“He went back in the house, and that’s when he shot Anthony again when he was coming down the steps,” said Johnson. “When he went in the house, that was Jeanettrius’ cue to run for her life, and that’s what she did. Ran for her life in traffic across New York Street and knocking on everyone’s doors.”
The frightened woman fled to a neighbor’s house, where she hid on the porch.
Johnson said, “He told her that she made him kill everybody. She made him do it.”
Lorenzo Moore, Jeanettrius’ brother, found his deceased family members.
“I seen all my family members in there on the floor dead,” he said. “I could put the picture together of how everything went down and how everybody went.”
Halfacre’s child with Moore was found on the northeast side of town– a day after police recovered the family member’s body.
Halfacre has a documented history of violence. He has an attempted murder charge from 2017 where he shot a man five times and plead to a lesser charge. The disturbed man came home from prison in 2018. He also has a record for possession of marijuana and carrying an unlicensed firearm. Halfacre’s past made Moore afraid of him.
“It was like you could feel this fear, but you never want to do anything about it because you’re too scared, and it might come to what it’s come to,” Lorenzo said. “Just him being angry about not having any money and him not doing anything for himself, so he thought he would just take something from her.”
He was finally arrested after a four-hour faceoff with SWAT. Halfacre was charged with attempted murder, robbery and murder.
The man is due back in court on March 18.
