Hip Hop mogul 50 Cent settled his lawsuit with the Miami medical spa he sued for leading the media and social media world to think he underwent a penis enhancement procedure — thanks to The Shade Room’s help.
According to Billboard, a joint filing created Friday in a Miami federal court read that the rapper (real name Curtis Jackson) and the CEO of Perfection Plastic Surgery & Medspa Angela Kogan “reached an agreement in principle to settle Mr. Jackson’s claims” and were “preparing an agreement to finalize and memorialize” the deal.
The “In Da Club” rapper sued Kogan and Perfection in September after she used an image of the two of them for commercial purposes. The hitmaker said he was near the spa on or about Feb. 1, 2020, and Kogan asked him for a photo.
Assuming she was a fan, he agreed. However, the lawsuit read that Kogan posted the picture to the company’s Instagram page, writing, “Thank you @50cent for stopping by the number one med spa.”
Kogan never asked artists to use the photo. Things took a turn when The Shade Room published an article titled, “Penis Enhancements Are More Popular Than Ever & BBLs are Dying Out: Cosmetic Surgery CEO Angela Kogan Speaks On It.”
On the outlet’s Twitter page, a side-by-side photo of 50 Cent and a penile enhancement procedure covered with an eggplant emoji was the link’s thumbnail, leading people to believe he got a penis enhancement.
“Defendants’ actions have exposed Jackson to ridicule, caused substantial damage to his professional and personal reputation, and violated his right to control his name and image,” the rapper’s lawyers said.
The lawsuit said commenters ripped into the rapper, asking if he could show the before and after pictures.
One commenter wrote, “Call him 50 inch…”
Kogan tried to dismiss the case, alleging 50 Cent was a client, and greenlighted the company using the image.
Judge Robert N. Scola, Jr. denied Kogan’s dismissal request.
“As the proverbial saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words,” Scola said in his ruling. “This one in paticular depicts a worldwide celebrity next to Kogan with MedSpa’s name repeated all throughout the background. The promotional value is evident.”
