New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was arrested at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 6, for allegedly beating a man up at a club the night before.

According to a statement by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the 26-year-old was booked at Clark County jail due to a battery charge resulting in standard bodily harm. He was reportedly in town for NFL’s Pro Bowl, which he partook in on Sunday. Kamara was chosen to play in the event for all five seasons he has been with the Saints.

“On Feb. 5 at approximately 5:50 p.m., LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to a local hospital where a person was reporting a battery,” the release said. “The victim reported being battered at a nightclub located in the 3500 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.”

The document also stated that authorities determined the Saints player was the suspect after investigating the alleged beat down. He was tracked down and taken into custody without incident.

WAFB reported that the victim, Darnell Greene, was attacked by a group, including Kamara, near an elevator at the nightclub. The running back reportedly told police that Greene called one of his friends ugly before they broke out into a fight and that he thought the victim was running away when he chased and punched him.

Police said that surveillance footage showed Kamara’s group hitting the victim first, and then the NFL star punched him at least eight times.”

Among the group of alleged attackers was Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Christopher Lammons, who has been facing charges of conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Two other men, Percy Harris and Darrin Young were arrested on Monday, Feb. 7, and face the exact charges as Lammons. They were scheduled to be in court on Mar. 16.

Meanwhile, Kamara is set to appear in court on Mar. 8. If he is convicted, he could face up to five years in prison, as Battery with Substantial Bodily Injury is considered a felony in Nevada.

His attorneys, Richard Schonfeld, David Chesnoff, and Drew Findling, issued a statement about Greene’s allegations against him earlier in February.

“Alvin Kamara has gained a well-deserved reputation for being a hard-working and community-minded individual,” they wrote. “The recent Las Vegas allegations are not consistent with who Mr. Kamara has shown himself to be in both his public and private life. Therefore, we are conducting our own investigation into all of the circumstances and individuals associated with this matter to determine both the facts and motivations of all involved.”

The football player has been with the Saints since 2017. He was selected at No. 67 overall during the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
