San Diego police have recently faced scrutiny over 45-year-old woman Connie Dadkhah’s murder.
According to NBC 7, Connie’s neighbors said the San Diego police deserved some of the blame for her death. They allegedly called 911 and begged authorities for help nearly two hours before her body was discovered at her Rancho Peñasquitos home.
“Had they just done their job, she would still be alive,” Michelle told the news outlet.
“I just feel such a strange combination of anxiety and anger and sadness. It could have been prevented.” Sally added.
“It’s incredibly upsetting. It’s really unbelievable. Very, very scary,” said Mike.
NBC 7 used fake names for the neighbors to protect their identities.
Officers reportedly found Connie’s lifeless body inside her residence on June 15, but 911 call timestamps, dispatch records, and surveillance footage revealed that calls for help began 12 hours prior.
During the previous night, on June 14, two of the San Deigo woman’s neighbors called 911 to report a man banging on her door and shouting. Five more 911 calls were made, but no police officers were dispatched to Connie’s home. Eventually, dispatchers sped up the police’s response after neighbors alleged that they heard and saw someone break into her condo.
“I told them [police] that there is an active burglary happening to my neighbor’s house. I’m looking at him through the window. He entered through the second-story sliding glass door. He busted the door.” Michelle said.
Sally also said she was on the line with a dispatcher when she heard a physical fight.
When officers finally arrived at Connie’s home, police said, they reportedly knocked on her door, tried calling her and searching for her car to no avail, so they left. The following morning, authorities said a man named Parrish Chambers Jr. came outside and told a neighbor to call 911 because Connie had died. Shortly after, he was arrested.
NBC 7 revealed that a judge previously ordered the 44-year-old man to stay away from Connie as one of his probationary terms for a vandalism conviction in 2020. Prosecutors at Chambers’ preliminary hearing reportedly said the victim in the 2020 case was also murdered.
A woman who claimed to have known Connie said Parrish was enamored by the San Diego woman, who allegedly “stalked” her.
Parrish is currently being held without bail at a local jail, awaiting a murder trial.
