Christian Obumseli’s father is suing Courtney Clenney, also known as “Courtney Tailor,” for negligence, saying her carelessness killed their son and caused them pain and payment for funeral arrangements.
Christian’s father is seeking more than $50,000 for his pain and suffering, past and future loss of support, medical care and funeral arrangements.
On April 3, 2022, Courtney stabbed her boyfriend Christian with a kitchen knife inside the couple’s luxury Miami hotel, claiming it was self-defense. New information about the couple’s dysfunctional relationship surfaced, including footage of Courtney unprovokedly attacking Christian in the elevator while his back was turned.
She originally told police that she threw a kitchen at him, causing him to accidentally die.
“Usually we think of domestic violence in the reverse situation, and this is a case where you see in every police call, all the neighbors, all the tenants that we’ve talked to, that the police have talked to, said that the aggressor was the woman,” Michael Haggard, the lawyer representing the Obumseli’s estate in the civil suit.
Courtney has been charged with second-degree murder and is awaiting her next court appearance, scheduled for May 9. Her attorney, Frank Prieto, told The Miami Herald that she had been in Hawaii undergoing rehabilitation for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder before she was arrested there in August 2022.
Now, Christian’s father, Chio Obumseli, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on April 14 against the white Instagram/OnlyFans model. Chio has also named the high-rise’s owners, two property management companies, and the building’s security company in the lawsuit.
Building staff and security knew about Christian’s toxic relationship before his death but did nothing about it, the family’s attorney said. The police were called eight times in response to the couple’s disturbances.
Chio’s reasoning is that the building failed to “maintain the subject premises in a safe and danger-free manner.”
“Criminals could carry out physical assaults within subject building without fear of being caught, discovered, or prosecuted,” the lawsuit read. “An atmosphere was created at the subject premises that facilitated the commission of crimes against persons.”
Courtney had a net profit of more than $3 million from OnlyFans between 2020 and last August, with her earning $900,000 in 2020 and more than $1.8 million in 2021.
Courtney’s father, Kim Clenney, claims that she does not have much money, with her having only about $11,000 and a house with $375,000 in equity.
However, prosecutors say Courtney Clenney hid $1 million of OnlyFans’ money in her father’s bank account after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death.
