Notorious drug dealer Alberto “Alpo” Martinez, who was fatally shot during a drive-by shooting on October 31, was throwing drug baggies out of a car window during his final moments.
As previously reported, Alpo was shot five times and killed on Sunday in Harlem, New York.
The New York Post reported that the government informant was allegedly throwing baggies of drugs out his truck’s window while he attempted to drive away from the scene, a police source said November 1.
There were a dozen of the baggies, suspected to be heroin, found near the street laying a few feet apart near West 147th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard after Alpo was killed in his truck, according to the source. The source reported that Alpo had been enrolled in a federal witness protection program and seemingly wanted to evade capture.
The source stated that it looked like he was “throwing them out the window” since he knew the police would catch him.

Following the shooting, Alpo was taken to Harlem Hospital but passed away from his injuries. It currently remains unclear if Alpo had been released from witness protection or if he just decided to go back to his old ways during the event he was killed, the source said.
Despite the question, Alpo identified him by the name of Abraham Rodriguez from Lewiston, Maine, when police found him. Sources said the ID was what he used in the witness protection program.
Alpo was raised in Harlem and began selling drugs from the ’80s throughout the ’90s. He later moved on to create a drug empire that extended from New York to Washington, DC, where he was arrested in 1991.
Alpo confessed to killing 14 people before he flipped and became a government witness.
