On September 10, Miami, Florida, resident Niviane Petit Phelps pleaded guilty to a six-count indictment, which included threats against the vice president, Kamala Harris.

As previously reported, Phelps had a hearing in February of this year. During a plea to the district court in Florida, she admitted that she sent her incarcerated husband a video of herself threatening to kill Harris.

In one of the videos, Phelps was recorded saying that she was paid $53,000 to kill Harris.

“Kamala Harris put a dime on me. I put a f*****g dime back on her. $53,000, that’s your f*****g number; it’s on your f*****g head b***h,” she said.

Phelps confessed to prosecutors that she accepted $53,000 to carry out a “hit” against Harris within 50 days, the Justice Department said.

After she sent the videos, Phelps sent a photo of herself holding a gun with a target sheet at a shooting range, and two days after that, she filed for a gun permit.

At the time, she even told the prosecutors that if police authorities hadn’t shown up at her house when they did, she’s not sure what would have happened.

Phelps’ attorney, Scott B. Saul, said in a statement on Tuesday that Phelps “is adamant that she was just venting as she was going through a tumultuous time in her life and never had an intent to carry out her threats.”

He added that “it has been important for Ms. Phelps to demonstrate her acceptance of responsibility as she begins to atone for her aberrant actions” but that she “plans on demonstrating significant mitigating circumstances” in hopes of obtaining an “equitable” sentence from the judge in her case.

Phelps will be sentenced on November 19 and is facing up to five years in federal prison.
