19-Year-Old Delta Employee Struck By Truck At Full Speed While Working On Tarmac, Air Line Responds

A 19-year-old Delta employee Camdyn Davis was struck by a truck at full speed while working on a tarmac, and the airline recently responded.

According to 11Alive, Camdyn was hit by a lavatory servicing truck while guiding a plane to its gate at a tarmac in Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport. The driver told the police that he wasn’t paying attention while driving as he was busy looking at his tablet.

Davis’ uncle, Joe Hayes, told the news outlet, “When they found her … she wasn’t breathing. She was, you know, completely unconscious, if not dead for a moment.”

“Camdyn learned about this the same we all did, in terms of watching the video and being shocked that way because she had no recollection of what happened,” he said. “As soon as impact occurred, she was knocked unconscious and doesn’t remember any of it.”

Delta has since released a statement stating that the airline’s “teams” have been “fully investigating” the accident, WLBT reported.

“Delta teams are fully investigating an accident involving an employee injury in Atlanta on Saturday evening, as nothing is more important than the safety of our people and our customers. The employee was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”

Davis’ mother also launched a GoFundMe page for her daughter, requesting donations to assist with the young woman’s recovery.

“My daughter and second born was safely flagging an airplane in while working as a ramp agent for Delta Airlines at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. She was good at her job and did absolutely nothing to deserve this!” her mother passionately wrote. “Oblivious to the fact that her life would be forever changed in just seconds, Camdyn was suddenly and viciously struck from behind and plowed over by a lavatory waste truck.”

In a follow-up message, she shared that Davis was discharged from the hospital but was whisked back, and doctors found small brain bleeds.

“We’re all just trying to stay positive, prayerful and hope for the best and believe, you know, and have faith that she will return 100%,” Hayes added.
