Aspiring New York Model Murdered In Women’s Shelter

A 27-year-old beginning New York City model was fatally stabbed by her roommate in a Manhattan Project Renewal New Providence Women’s Shelter on the night of December 16. According to People, NYPD responded to an altercation between victim Victoria Goode and her roommate Charmaine Croffman, 42, about playing too loud music. She was found bleeding out in the hallway of the women’s shelter on East 45th Street and tragically passed away at a nearby hospital.

Croffman was reportedly seen disposing of a bloody knife in a trash can before being apprehended by police on December 20. A nearby shelter resident said that she had heard screaming and came upon the crime scene first. She reported, “I heard a lot of screaming, and I came out, went upstairs and seen a lot of blood in the hallway. It made my stomach upset. That’s something I can’t forget. I heard it all the way down on the second floor.” Croffman is being held without bond and is being charged with murder.

Goode’s family has since started a GoFundMe for the aspiring model to raise money to bring her back home to Oklahoma and lay her to rest. It reads, “Please help us lay our beloved Victoria Jade Goode to rest. We appreciate any help at this time as our family try to navigate through this process. Again, we appreciate all support and all donations are welcomed,” It’s raised almost $8,000 so far of its 10K goal.

Victoria Jade Goode came to New York City in 2017 to pursue a career in modeling. She had recently gotten to do a photoshoot with VOGUE Mexico; however, she was still trying to save money by staying with friends and in women’s shelters to save money before finding a more stable and financially accessible place. The shelter that Goode stayed at had previous reports of incidents, and the NYPD frequently has to respond to calls there.
