NBA all-star veteran Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan recently received an offer to play ball at Syracuse University.
According to ESPN, Kiyan announced that he got an offer to play with Syracuse’s Orange basketball team on Nov. 13.
“Beyond blessed to receive an offer from Syracuse University! #GOORANGE,” he tweeted that day.
Kiyan currently attends Christ the King High School, a co-educational, college preparatory, Catholic high school in Middle Village, Queens. He leads
the school’s team, the Royals, as a wing and is set to graduate in 2025.“This is just the beginning,” his dad excitedly shared via Instagram stories.
The 15-year-old’s mom, actor, model and TV personality, La La Anthony, also shared that she’s the “proudest mom on the planet.”
“Proudest mom on the planet! Your hard work and dedication is paying off,” she wrote in an IG post on Nov. 14. “You are my son, my best friend, & my hero @kiyananthony…to get a scholarship offer at 15 yrs old from the school your dad won a championship with is mind blowing..keep GOD first and everything else will follow… thank you @syracuseu [basketball] I LOVE YOU & I WILL ALWAYS BE YOUR #1 FAN!!”
The 15-year-old will reportedly keep it all in the family, as his father led the famed Onondaga County, New York school to the national championship during the 2002-03 season. Carmelo entered the NBA draft in 2003 but has since been connected to Syracuse, and its basketball team coach, James Arthur Boeheim Jr.
In 2014, the now-38-year-old donated
$3 million to create the university’s Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center. The school is set to honor the 2003 national title team on its 20th anniversary this season.
