Cedric Berry and Berry Davis Sentenced to Life After Murdering Monique Baugh in Murder-For-Hire Plot

Cedric Berry and Berry Davis were convicted of the premeditated murder and kidnapping of Monique Baugh and sentenced to life without chance of release.

Bough was found dead with three gunshot wounds in a Minneapolis alleyway on New Year’s Eve 2019.

The suspects were also convicted of the attempted second-degree murder of Jon Mitchell-Momoh, who was Baugh’s boyfriend, a local rapper and also known as Momoh.

According to People Magazine, Momoh was attacked an hour before Baugh was kidnapped after going to a manufactured home showing in Maple Grove, a suburb of Minneapolis. She was taken inside a U-haul rental truck and later murdered.

The couple’s children, who were of ages one and three at the time, were both in the home with Momoh when Berry opened fire, shooting the rapper several times before he escaped.

Momoh called the police, who arrived at the home, to find him on the floor of his bedroom covered in blood, next to his two children.

Police reported that he survived the shooting and his children were unharmed in the incident.

Authorities believe the murder and attack were intended for Momoh, who had revealed to investigators that he had recently signed a record contract before the incident and had been “flaunting his cash on social media.”

Lou Raguse of KARE 11, Minneapolis’ NBC affiliate station, shared his thoughts after receiving an impact statement from Baugh’s mother, Wanda Williams Baugh.

According to the Grio, in a statement last January, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said, “I cannot begin to describe how vicious the behavior was in this case.”

Berry and Davis are the first to be convicted and sentenced, but authorities say least eight people were involved in the plot. Shante Davis and Elsa Segura, a former Hennepin County probation officer, were also charged.
