Chicago Police Charge Demond Goudy, Second Suspect In Jaslyn Adam’s Murder

One week after Chicago police apprehended Marion Lewis, another suspect in the shooting death of 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams has also been charged with first-degree murder. Demon Goudy, 21, was also hit with an attempted murder charge for his alleged role in the shooting, the Chicago-Sun Times reported. Adams lost her life on April 18 while waiting in a McDonald’s drive-thru line with her father.

News Onyx reported the arrest of Lewis, 18, earlier this week. Also suspected of being involved in Adams’ murder, Chicago police shot him in a car chase before taking him into custody. He had allegedly tried to carjack a family prior. It isn’t known who pulled the trigger during the shooting, but Lewis is believed to have acted as a getaway driver.

According to the Chicago-Sun Times, police, with the help of a SWAT team, arrested Goudy on Monday night as he left his home. He had his first court appearance Wednesday and is expected to return Friday for his bond hearing.

Goudy and Chicago police officers had a “small standoff” before he was taken into custody, ABC 7 in Chicago reported. He is being charged with first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder.

While with her father at McDonald’s in broad daylight, Adams was struck with at least six bullets. Her father, Jontae Adams, was injured when he was hit in the torso during the shooting. When his daughter was transported to a local hospital, she was pronounced dead. Chicago police believe up to 50 shots were fired at the vehicle.

According to the Associated Press, surveillance footage shows a pair of men leave an Audi, fire shots into the victims’ vehicle and return to their car. After Adams’ car moved, the men came back and fired again before skirting off.

A motive has yet to be found for the senseless murder.
