Power couple Ciara and Russell Wilson’s Why Not You Academy, a high school that focuses on preparing students for higher education and building empowerment, will officially open this fall. Students at the school, which is located in Des Moines, Washington, will participate in weekly internships and be provided with a mentor to help aid them in their college and career path.

A member of the Washington State Charter Schools Association, Why Not You Academy is described as “a new type of high school.” Ciara and Wilson recently visited the school to offer more insight into their emerging academy.

Writing on Instagram, the “Goodies” singer stated, “It’s always amazing when you see your BIG DREAM or VISION come to life, and it’s always special to get to do it with you @DangeRussWilson! There’s no greater feeling than being able to provide an opportunity to further a child’s education through our @wnyacademy! So much fun surprising and speaking with some of the founding students of the WNYA. Dreams really do come true!”

We dreamed & talked about opening a school together the first day we met! We are blessed to say it’s officially here. To be able to help kids dreams come true is such a blessing.”

Wilson and Ciara also toured the school during their visit, meeting its future students along with their families.

The Des Moines school is set to officially open this September. Those interested in becoming a mentor or volunteer for Why Not You Academy can check out their website for more information.
