Deion Sanders Announces Son Shedeur Sanders Is Set To Become Starting Quarterback At University Of Colorado Boulder

NFL legend and famed JSU Tigers’ head coach, Deion Sanders, has announced that his son Shedeur Sanders is set to become a starting quarterback at the University Of Colorado Boulder.

According to Sporting News, Deion, also called Coach Prime, shared that he would be coaching the school’s college football program next season at a Dec. 4 press conference. He also announced that he would be bringing his son with him to lead the Colorado Buffaloes as its starting quarterback.

That day, the NFL Hall Of Famer was introduced as Colorado’s head coach and introduced Shedeur as “your quarterback” during his speech. He’s still currently the head coach of the undefeated Tigers, who recently won the division championship.

During his appearance at the latest press conference, Deion added that although his son has had a great record–he won the past two Southwestern Athletic Conference titles while leading the Tigers–he’d have to “earn it this coming season.”

“He’s going to have to earn it, though, believe that,” he said.

JSU’s football team has reportedly won the championship, but their playoff season isn’t over as of yet. Coach Prime said he would be coaching the team’s next game against North Carolina Central at the Celebration Bowl on Dec. 17.

While he’s set to exit his tenure on a high note, the overall reaction about his soon-to-be departure has been a little somber. According to the Guardian, some fans and followers wished he decided to stay with JSU, especially since it’s an HBCU.

“I think many Jackson State fans were holding out hope that the news wasn’t true, or he wouldn’t go through with it,” Tiffany Greene, a play-by-play commentator for ESPN, told the outlet.

In early December, News Onyx reported that the university named the beloved coach SWAC Coach Of The Year for the second year in a row on Nov. 29. Shedeur was also awarded Offensive Player Of The Year and is a finalist for the Walter Payton Award given to the FCS Offensive Player of the Year.

Surprisingly, Deion didn’t post much about his new accomplishment but shared an interesting Instagram post instead. His son, on the other hand, has been flexing on the social media platform.

“Legendary,” he wrote in his latest post.
