Evalena Flores, Mother Of Sons Accused Of Murdering a Chicago Police Officer, Arrested

The mother of the two brothers charged in the murder of Chicago police officer Ella French is now also in police custody.

Evalena Flores, 41, was arrested following a confrontation with officers at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Flores broke into the hospital to see her son Emonte Morgan, 21, who was being treated for gunshot wounds.

The officer guarding Emonte’s room said the mother was “causing a disturbance.”

According to reports provided to NBC5, Flores attempted to push her way past the officer who was standing outside her son’s hospital room door. She then kicked a hospital staffer in the groin.

Emonte and his older brother, Eric Morgan, 22, allegedly had a violent encounter with two members of the Chicago Police Department following a traffic stop.

According to TheGrio, Emonte was shot multiple times during the confrontation with Officer Carlos Yanez, and his partner, Officer Ella French, was fatally shot. Yanez was critically injured and being treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

In a release, police said, “Flores’s attempt was thwarted by the actions of two Chicago police officers and Christ Hospital Public Safety Officers who were on scene. As Flores attempted to push her way past the officer’s she kicked a Christ Hospital Public Safety Officer in the groin. Flores continued to resist efforts to take her into custody while demanding to see her son.”

Flores, reportedly, filmed a video outside of the same hospital where her son was being treated.

She said, “We fear our police here, we fear them… I need to be a voice for my boys. And that’s all I gotta say. Let me get in this hospital to see my damn son!”
