Future WNBA Star Angel Reese Shoots And Scores In New STARRY Campaign

PepsiCo’s new lemon-lime flavored drink, STARRY, hopped on the Angel Reese train by including her in their latest Sierra Mist replacement beverage campaign. STARRY is also the official NBA beverage.

STARRY’s “3>2” campaign is a part of Reese’s recent NIL deal. The Louisiana Tiger joined basketball stars Zion Williamson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Matt Barnes for the short film and commercial titled, 3>2: A STARRY Story,” which comprised the characters Lem and Lime giving the superstars a look at the origin of the three-pointer.

Athletes gathered in a gymnasium to learn facts like Chris Ford from the Boston Celtics being the first person to make a three-pointer shot. Ford died in January 2023.

Creators combined real historical footage of three-point shots with animation, using movie magic to highlight the historical importance and longevity of the three-point shot.

Toward the end of the NBA Finals campaign, Reese told the athletes, “The reason you guys have any shooting rage is because of these two. Give them their flowers.”

Reese was then challenged to a shoot-out, which she won. The NCAA player then took a long sip from a STARRY drink to celebrate her victory.

“STARRY is really bringing the fun to the game, and we all had a great time on set shooting it together,” Reese said, according to STARRY’S press release. “The attitude and personality of the brand shines bright, and I know fans are going to love the unique and creative STARRY take on how the 3-pointer came to be thanks to my new friends, Lem and Lime.”

“The conversations around the 3-pointer and its impact on the NBA have been debated far and wide, and we’re excited to tell the STARRY version of the history behind the shot that changed the game forever,” said Michael Smith, senior director of STARRY brand marketing. “As a fresh new brand and the official soft drink of the NBA, we wanted to embrace hoops culture during a pivotal moment in the NBA season and give fans something fun to talk about in a way that only STARRY could.”

The new STARRY campaign will be taking over the NBA Finals 2023. It launched during game 1.
