Gang Contaminates G House Taipei Restaurant With 1000 Roaches in Taiwan

According to the Taiwan News, two gang members contaminated the G House Taipei restaurant with 1000 roaches over an unpaid debt. The incident happened during a banquet on May 3 hosted by the Taipei City Wolong Street Police Station.

More than 700 people were at the restaurant when the two men emptied bags of the roaches on the second floor of the establishment. The roach dump happened around 7:30 p.m. The Taipei Police Department Commissioner, Chen Jia-chang, was present during the banquet when the roaches began appearing in the dining room of the banquet hall.

Chen said that they had found no evidence that the roach attack was meant to target the police and compared the act to throwing “paint or feces.”

The Zhongshan Precinct of the Taipei Police Department is investigating and has charged five people with the crime. Four men and one woman have been arrested in connection with the incident. Two gang members were the lookouts while the other two dumped the roaches. Another member was a getaway driver. The gang left separately afterward, with two fleeing on a scooter.

Chen said that the owner might have been having a dispute with the United Bamboo Triads. The United Bamboo Triads is

an organized crime gang involved in human and drug trafficking, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The gang has approximately 10,000 members and was accused of kidnapping a Hong Kong businessman in 2015. The kidnappers demanded $9 million for his release. Wong Yuk-Kwan was found alive 38 days later, and several men with ties to the United Bamboo Triads were arrested. Wong’s face was burned with cigarettes, and his body was covered with bruises.

Chen said that all those responsible would be severely punished. Considering what happened to Wong, perhaps the owners of G House Taipei should consider themselves lucky. Then again, roaches, tho!
