Kevin Garnett Says It’s Time For Anthony Davis And Devin Booker To Shepherd Their Teams, Giving Kevin Durant And LeBron James A Break

Former baller Kevin Garnett declared it’s time to delegate the heavy lifting to the next generation of NBA stars.

Appearing on the latest episode of Ticket and The Truth, Garnett spoke with Paul Pierce about how the GOAT and Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and Phoenix Suns’ forward Kevin Durant needed to play second fiddle and allow their superstar-caliber teammates Anthony Davis and Devin Booker to become the hubs of their corresponding teams.

Showtime Basketball posted a small clip of the discussion to X.

“I don’t think the responsibility is on KD (Durant),” Garnett said. “I think this is Booker’s team. This is definitely Booker’s team. Hell, yeah. This is Booker’s team, and this is everybody in the cast coming to support him, man, straight up.”

The 47-year-old former forward resumed, “KD ain’t trippin’. Guess what? They double Booker. You gon’ leave KD? You ain’t leavin’ no KD. KD want that. Yeah! Listen, I’mma tell you…LeBron and KD, it’s time for them to be spot up, bro.”

Garnett exclaimed Durant and James had carried

the heavy lifting for their teams for about 20 years and endured the high expectations and responsibilities as the faces of their respective teams. Enough is enough for Garnett, who is sure of himself that Booker and Davis are the subsequent focal points for the Lakers and Suns.

“Can they play off the ball once? Can they go in the corner, and now someone make a play, make it for them to get a free shot?”

He made exaggerative gestures about how Durant bore the Brooklyn Nets on his shoulders when he played with them from 2020 to 2022. Garnett contended that Davis ameliorated James’ performance on the court.

“These younger players got these older guys that are great, bro,” Garnett said. “And they’ve been great for so long, but they never been in positions to where they’ve gotten anything easy. Man, ‘Bron got to get the s**t off the glass, take it, a little n***a on him, do some wild s**t to get him off, blow by…come on, man. ‘Bron working extra, extra hard.”
