Kim Glass, Olympic Silver Medalist, Attacked By A Homeless Man In Los Angeles

According to CBS Los Angeles, a former Olympic silver medalist was assaulted with a metal pipe by a homeless man in Los Angeles at 2:30 PM on July 8.

Kim Glass reportedly suffered a swollen eye, multiple facial fractures, and ocular bruising. Glass told her story that led to her injuries in a post-attack update on Instagram; She said that what she believes to be a homeless man threw a metal pipe of some sort at her face.

“Yesterday, I was in downtown LA. I had a lunch, as I was leaving lunch, I was outside saying goodbye to a friend and this homeless man ran up. He had something in his hand, he was on the side of the car in the street, and he just, like, looked at me with some pretty hateful eyes, and as I go to tell my friend, I think something is wrong with him before I knew it a big metal bolt-like pipe hit me. It happened so fast. He literally flung it from the street,” the silver medalist

explained in an extensive series of clips. Her face was clearly battered from the attack. She continued, “There’s a lot of mentally ill people on these streets right now.”

Glass said. “You shouldn’t have to be fearful when you walk.”

She managed to stay in good spirits even with her wounds, joking, “And shout out to these eyelashes that have been on ever since. I don’t know who made these, but can I get a deal? Because you guys are awesome. Love you guys.”

Drake Madison, a member of the Los Angeles police, told the news outlet that witnesses detained the attacker up until police arrived on the team after bystanders called. The suspect was identified as Semeon Tesfamarian. He was taken into custody on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
