According to reports, Shetellia would be replacing Roc Nation and Jeff Wechsler, who previously represented Kyrie. He signed with Wechsler in 2011 and then with Roc Nation in 2019, but they parted ways in 2021. Recently, he decided to move forward and give his stepmom the role.

The boss lady married Kyrie’s father, Drederick Irving, in 2004 and has also been serving as the Vice President of Ad Sales at BET for the past four years.

The agent role reportedly came during a critical time for Kyrie, who would become a free agent this coming offseason if he chose to waive a $36.6 million player option for the 2022-23 season.

The superstar athlete played in only 15 games via road games outside of Brooklyn this season because he refused to get a COVID-19 vaccination, which has been required

for indoor events in New York City. These events include sports events at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center, where his team has frequently played home games.

Kyrie joined the Brooklyn Nets on July 7, 2019, but the NBA decided to sit him out due to the vaccination mandates. However, they allowed him to rejoin the Nets after losing numerous players to injuries the association’s health-and-safety protocols, and he made his season debut on Jan. 5.

He said he understood why he wasn’t allowed to practice or play with his team.

“I understood their decision and respected it,” he told reporters at a press conference in December 2021. “I really had to sit back and think and try not to become too emotionally attached to what they were deciding to do. I had to really evaluate things and see it from their perspective, meaning the organization, my teammates.”

The 29-year-old played with the Nets against the Celtics in Boston at TD Garden Arena on Mar. 6.
