Long Island Man Charged With Murdering Ex-Girlfriend

A Long Island, New York man was arrested Friday and charged with the fatal shooting of a Northwell Health employee and alleged ex-girlfriend.

Quay-Sean Renard Hines, 30, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Amelia Laguerre.

On March 31, Hines allegedly ambushed Laguerre in an underground parking garage near Northwell Health.

“He immediately came up behind her, shot at her ten times, strangled her nine times,” Police Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick said, according to WABC.

“According to the preliminary investigation, less than one hour after Hines allegedly shot Ms. Laguerre, he went to the gym,” District Attorney Anne Donnelly said.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, the former couple dated for two years before breaking up in 2021.

Police Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick said he began stalking Laguerre following three breakups.

“Our investigation also determined that Quay-Sean began to stalk Amelia, and he would show up unannounced at [her work] seeking to rekindle their relationship,” Fitzpatrick said.

“According to police records, Hines does not have a history of prior arrests or domestic incidents,” Fitzpatrick continued. “He does have other relationships. So if any of these females that are involved with him or had been involved with him that he had abused or had this kind of behavior towards, we ask them to come forward,” he urged.

Hines pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead. He is being held without bail.
