A mother-and-daughter duo is geared up to launch their first-ever self-care retreat this year in New Orleans during Essence Festival Weekend.
Per a Black Enterprise report, Dr. Toscha L. Dickerson, an international best-selling author and speaker, certified life and stress management coach and Dickerson Management & Associates CEO, and her 11-year-old daughter, Kaleigh, have worked together to educate and inspire women on ways to improve life through self-discovery, stress reduction and gaining clarity.
Dickerson has been speaking to women to obtain her goal through social media, speaking engagements, coaching services and more. The mother-and-daughter duo is taking things to the next level by launching “The Big Easy Retreat.”
“We are ready and preparing for an amazing time with everyone who will be in attendance!! Our focus is to give you the tools and techniques you need to overcome your challenges and fears so you can walk boldly into your destiny!!” Dickerson said in an Instagram post.
“The Big Easy Retreat” participants can expect candid conversations, strategies to help with personal growth and improvement, techniques to use one’s voice boldly, “transparent” interviews and tools to help one “get unstuck and overcome fear.”

In addition to the tactics that will lead participants to personal improvements, the retreat offers games, shopping, a three-course meal, networking and a VIP experience.
The Delta Sigma Theta soror included two other speakers for the retreat, the voice whisperer Shulunda Gibson and the host of The End Table Live broadcast Francheska Gwenadette.
Her goal with the retreat is to help women “move forward and live productive lives.”
“We must get past the brokenness so we can experience the breakthroughs! We are humans, and we will make mistakes, but we must not allow our mistakes to define who we are,” she said, according to Black Enterprise.
