Michelle Obama Sends Special Message To Barack On Their 29th Anniversary

Our forever FLOTUS, Michelle Obama, took to Instagram to post a sweet message to her husband Barack to celebrate their 29th anniversary.

On Sunday, the couple celebrated nearly three decades of marriage, and Michelle made sure to let the world know that the fire is still aflame for her husband.

How it started vs. how it’s going,” wrote Michelle. “Happy anniversary, Barack—love you! ❤️😘.”

The post included a throwback photo of the two snuggled on a couch and an up-to-date photo of the two in the same position.

While Michelle and Barack are symbolic of what many see as the perfect Black love pairing, the two have been open about their struggles along the journey to each anniversary.

Their respective memoirs, “Becoming” from Michelle and “A Promised Land” from Barack, discussed the more challenging seasons in their marriage.

Earlier in their marriage, the couple sought counseling to deal with those challenging times and bucked the traditional conditioning to cover up problems or refuse to talk about them.

“There were nights [in the White House] when lying next to Michelle in the dark, I’d think about those days when everything between us felt lighter…And my heart would suddenly tighten at the thought that those days might not return,” Barack said in his memoir.

The couple acknowledged that part of them being role models is, to be honest with themselves and those they influence.

“Because we’re role models, it’s important for us to be honest,” Michelle said.

Barack and Michelle married on Oct. 3, 1992. They have two daughters, Sasha, 20, and Malia, 23.

Almost three decades later, she majestic lawyer, wife and mother is thankful for a firm foundation that carried her and her spouse through not only personal struggles but the stress of being the leaders of the free world.

“I am happy to say that I can now look up from all of that and look over across the room, and I still see my friend,” she said.
