Mississippi Valley State Cheerleader Ejected After Altercation with Alabama A&M Player

A Mississippi Valley State University cheerleader was ejected from a recent basketball game against Alabama A&M after confronting a basketball player from the opposing team.

During Saturday’s game, the cheerleader can be seen on video standing on the baseline of the court, performing a herkie which made contact with an Alabama A&M player, junior Dailin Smith.

A few minutes later, the same cheerleader walked onto the court after a play and shoved A&M’s Smith.

According to reports, the cheerleader was seen on camera shouting at the player and making physical contact with him, leading to her removal from the game.

The commentators began discussing the incident.

“The Alabama A&M coach, he’s fussing,” Caleb Brunson, one member of the Mississippi Valley State broadcast team, said, “He’s fussing and cussing.”

A woman could be heard in the background calling for security before several members of security crossed the court to tell the cheerleader to leave.

Following the game, Smith also commented on the interaction saying, “Still confused about this interaction.”

The incident caused a heated debate online about the role of cheerleaders in games. Social media users have a pretty strong stance against the cheerleader.

One user wrote, “She needs to be taught that the court extends beyond the “out of bounds” line. She was technically “on the court” in the green area when she did her first herkie jump when she kicked the player.”

Another said, “She was screaming for attention and likes. She knew she was gonna be in the way. She timed it perfectly. Then got mad at him. She was in the field of play.”

Another user tweeted, “I don’t think that player bumped into her on purpose and she shouldn’t have walked onto the court and push him. I know she felt disrespected, but she got exactly what she deserved.”
