NY AG Letitia James Investigating Criminal Activity In Trump Organization

New York Attorney General Letitia James is investigating the Trump Organization for criminal activity. James was in the midst of a civil investigation into the organization for allegedly manipulating asset values. However, James is now pursuing criminal activity within the organization.

New York State Attorney General spokesman Fabian Levy confirmed the criminal investigation to NPR.

“We have informed the Trump Organization that our investigation into the organization is no longer purely civil in nature,” Levy said on May 18. “We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA.”

The treasonous former president commented on the new investigation into his criminal activity with a 909-word statement whining about being “politically persecuted.”

“There is nothing more corrupt than an investigation that is in desperate search of a crime,” he said. “After prosecutorial efforts, the likes of which nobody has ever seen before, they failed to stop me in Washington, so they turned it over to New York to do their dirty work.”

The Manhattan DA’s Office is investigating the Trump Organization’s payments to porn star Stormy Daniels, whom Trump allegedly had sex with in 2006. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. is checking to see if any state laws were broken over the hush money, such as bank and tax fraud. The Trump Organization could be treated as an organized-crime operation and charged

under federal RICO laws.

Despite Trump’s cries of being unfairly prosecuted, James is unlikely to be intimidated. James criticized the former president when he used the military against peaceful protesters after the murder of George Floyd.

“President Trump is not a dictator & he doesn’t have the right to unilaterally deploy U.S. military across American states. We will guard the right to peaceful protest & will not hesitate to go to court to protect our constitutional rights during this time & well into the future.”

Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg is reportedly the focus of the investigation so far and is flipping on Trump. His ex-daughter-in-law, Jennifer Weisselberg, spoke at length with CNN about Mr. Weisselberg cooperating with prosecutors.

The New York Attorney General’s Office and Manhattan DA’s Office did not specify if Trump or his family members were part of the investigation. However, Vance Jr. has had Ronald McDonald’s tax returns since February. If either office determines that they have enough evidence to charge Trump, it will likely happen by the year’s end.
