Pastor John Gray In Hostpital’s Critical Care Unit And In Need Of Prayers

Pastor John Gray’s wife, Aventer Gray, is asking for support and prayers for her husband after he was admitted to the hospital’s critical care unit (CCU) last Thursday. Doctors discovered that the pastor had a “saddle Pulmonary Embolism in the pulmonary artery and more lung blood clots.”

“The Saddle PE is in a position that could potentially end his life if it shifts at all,” Aventer’s post read. “The clot burden is severe, and only God is holding it in place. He is currently in CCU and based on CT & Echo. We will need two types of surgery due to the pressure now on the heart within the next 24 hours. To place this in perspective, the doctor said that people have come into the hospital dead with this exact scenario he walked in with.”

She ended her post by asking those “who believe in the miracle healing power Of Jesus Christ” to join her and her family in praying for Pastor Gray.

According to a Healthline article, Saddle PE is a life-threatening condition. In 2021, the National Library of Medicine studied 120 patients with Saddle PE and discovered that 9.2% died in the hospital while 8.6% died six months after discharge. The in-hospital deaths mainly occurred in women (11.6%), while only 3.9% of men died.

Pulmonary embolism is simply a large and unstable blood clot. If left untreated, a blockage can occur in the lungs and gradually worsen to the point where the blockage travels further down to the pulmonary arteries and other parts of the lungs.

Assuming the pastor does get better and is discharged, he would need to keep a close eye on his blood pressure and blood sugar levels, avoid sitting or lying for long periods, avoid smoking, and exercise regularly.
