Pregnant Chicago Woman Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Baby’s Father Over Microwave Usage

Pregnant Chicago woman Keshia Golden has been accused of fatally stabbing her baby father, Calvin Sidney, over microwave usage.

According to The Chicago Sun-Times, Keshia was arrested on Oct. 23 and charged with first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing Calvin. The incident occurred during an argument over who would use the microwave following her baby shower. At the time, the couple and other family members had returned to her Austin apartment after the celebration on Oct. 29.

Officials said 33-year-old Keshia, who’s eight months pregnant, slapped a plate out of Calvin’s hands, who then pushed her into the counter. Calvin’s uncle tried to defuse the situation, but it didn’t seem to work, as Keisha followed the victim to a bedroom where she allegedly stabbed him in the leg. He was then rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he allegedly suffered from a femoral artery wound and died.

Keshia was reportedly “unaware” of her baby’s father’s death and returned to her apartment, where she was arrested.

“She didn’t mean to kill anyone,” the pregnant woman’s mother, Tarsha Ellis said. “She’s broke up about it. She didn’t know you could kill someone by stabbing them in the leg. She just wanted him to leave because he was acting out, and she was worried about hurting the baby. And he wouldn’t go.”

On Oct. 28, Keshia was ordered held on $2 million bail, with an upcoming appearance before a judge. Her lawyer shared that she would be scheduled less than two weeks before her due date.

“This heartless decision is contrary to Illinois law. All the evidence shows Keshia acted in self-defense,” Julie Koehler said. “The only person she’s ever shown any violence toward was the man that was beating her.”

Officials also said five other domestic violence incidents reportedly took place between the Chicago couple; four in which she accused Calvin of allegedly punching, choking, or pushing, or slapping her.
