Professional Boxer Danny Kelly Jr. Killed On Christmas Eve In Front Of Three Children

Boxer Danny Kelly Jr. was shot to death on Christmas Eve in front of his three children. Kelly was on his way to a holiday dinner when he was ambushed in Temple Hills, Md., as he sat at a traffic light.

Thirty-year-old Kelly was driving his girlfriend and three children to the holiday dinner when another vehicle pulled up beside his SUV on the 4400 block of St. Barnabas Road. An individual inside the other car shot Kelly several times before fleeing the scene.

Kelly’s girlfriend and his three children, ages four, seven and nine, were not physically injured. Police arrived on the scene around 4:40 p.m. and found Kelly unresponsive. Kelly was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives from the Prince George’s County Police Department do not yet have a motive for the Christmas Eve killing

, but they believe road rage could have been a factor.

“At this time, detectives are looking into whether this was possible road rage,” said the police. “Detectives are working on identifying the suspect and the suspect vehicle.”

Kelly was from Clinton and boxed professionally with a 10-3-1 record and nine knockouts. His godmother, Bernadine Walker, said he was also a wonderful father.

“He was a wonderful dad,” said Walker. “He loved his babies. He loved his children.”
