Promising 22-Year-Old Black Nurse Froze To Death In Vehicle During Buffalo Blizzard

Tragedy struck the city of Buffalo, New York, on Wednesday as a severe snowstorm hit the area, trapping numerous individuals in their vehicles.

One victim, 22-year-old Anndel Taylor, was found dead in her car on Thursday morning after becoming trapped in the storm for over 18 hours.

According to The Grio, Taylor was on her way home from work at a local hospital as a nurse when she became stuck in the snow. She reportedly sent texts to her family in North Carolina, pleading for help and keeping them updated.

Despite her efforts to contact the police, rescue crews could not reach Taylor in time, and she was found deceased in her car on Thursday morning.

The New York Post reported that Taylor’s family and friends are devastated by the loss and are calling for better emergency response efforts in the wake of the tragedy.

Taylor’s mother, Wanda Brown Steele, 54, said, “that’s a state, that’s a city, that has this going on all the time — why [weren’t] they prepared?” she asked. “My baby sat out there from Friday to Christmas.”

In a post on Facebook, Taylor’s sister expressed her wish that she had been able to be with her younger sister to protect her during the tragic event.

Her death is a reminder of the importance of being prepared for winter weather and the potentially deadly consequences of getting stranded in a storm.

Taylor’s death was not the only one reported in the wake of the snowstorm. The city of Buffalo received over fifty inches of snow, leading to numerous accidents and over 30 fatalities. The storm also caused widespread power outages and disrupted travel in the area.

Her story has struck a chord with many across the country, with people expressing their condolences and outrage over the tragedy. Taylor’s family started a GoFundMe to raise funds for her service.
