On September 4, Katrina Grigsby of Nyack, New York, was killed in a double hit-and-run accident leaving behind her only son, Khasyi.
According to the Daily Voice, Katrina Grisby was hit by a car in the early morning hours around Route 9W and Rockland Lake North.
A bystander driving past the scene found Katrina lying on the ground and shortly after the person witnessed a second car strike her and then flee the scene.
Police were able to locate the second vehicle in Haverstraw and now has been charged but are still searching for the driver of the first car that hit Katrina.
“The Clarkstown Police share our thoughts and prayers with the family and friends of the victim as we continue to investigate the crime,” the department said in a release.
Her son, Khasyi, is deeply feeling the loss of his mother, and his family has created a GoFundMe fundraiser in hopes of raising funds for him to go to college, which was his mom’s dream.
The message on the page read, “There is no comparison to a Mother’s love, unending, enduring, unconditional, everlasting… And unfortunately gone way too soon. Katrina Grigsby was fatally struck and killed during a hit and run on September 4, 2021, leaving behind her only son Khasyi. Katrina was a single mother who taught her son a strong work ethic and strong family values. She lived and did everything for his well-being. Khasyi was not only her only child but was her best friend as well. The relationship they shared was unlike any other. They had a very powerful mother and son bond that has left him broken.”
“Even with this sudden loss, his only wish is to fulfill his mother’s dream, which is for him to go to college and continue his education. This little family now needs a village to help keep her dream alive. We are asking that everyone come together and help our family with Khasyi’s future,” the message continued.
The fundraiser has currently made just over $20,000 out of the $50,000 goal.
