Teenager Involved In Carjacking an UberEats Driver Pleads Guilty to Murder

On March 23, two teenage girls, ages 13 and 15, were arrested in Washington, D.C., after they attacked 66-year-old Mohammad Anwar, an UberEats driver, to steal his vehicle. Ultimately, the two teens killed him, according to Black Enterprise.

Now, one of the teens involved has entered into a plea deal with the prosecutor.

Police reported that the two girls tried to take Anwar’s truck using a Taser, which resulted in a rollover crash.

WUSA9 reported that the girl’s guilty plea for the felony murder charge has resulted in other counts she was charged with, including armed carjacking, being dropped. The 15-year-old’s sentencing is scheduled for June 5.

Last week in court, Metropolitan Police Department detectives showed a video of the incident. The video shows one of the girls screaming, “He has my phone!” as Anwar yelled, “They’re trying to take my car!”

The video in court also showed that one of the girls made their way into the driver seat of Anwar’s car, while the other in the passenger seat placed the car in gear as the Honda speeds off.

An MPD detective says one girl admitted going to Navy Yard station with the intention only of stealing the car. She blames the other girl for putting the car in gear, spinning the steering wheel, and crushing Anwar to death.

The carjacking has left the Anwar family devastated, and they have organized an online fundraiser where the family has raised more than a million dollars as of Wednesday, March 31.

The 13-year-old girl that was also charged in the case has a hearing scheduled for May 19.
