O.J. Simpsons is scratching his head after a judge sentenced Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III to three to 10 years in prison for a fatal DUI crash. Ruggs’ sentencing happened at the same courthouse where Simpson got a nine to 33-year sentence for his connection to a Las Vegas armed robbery.

In a video posted on Twitter on Wednesday with the caption, “The math just does not add up,” Simpson voiced his confusion about how he landed a higher prison sentence for a non-fatal armed robbery in Las Vegas when Ruggs received a lesser sentence for a deadly DUI crash.

“Hey, X world, it’s me, yours truly,” he began. “I know I went to college on a football scholarship, but somehow this math is not adding up to me.”

Simpson verbally analyzed Ruggs and his legal situation to compare them.

“You’re driving a car at roughly 160 miles an hour on a public street and end up killing a girl and her dog, and you get three to 10 years,” he said of Ruggs’ scenario before changing to his. “You go to a hotel room that you’re invited to to retrieve your own personal, stolen property…it was ruled to be mine by the state of California.”

Simpson continued, “And you get nine to 33 years. Same courthouse, same state. I don’t know. Somehow it just does not add up to me. I’m just saying.”

Considering his infamous history, many hit

the former football player’s post with the “should’ve kept this to yourself” and “wrong messenger” comments.

On Thursday (Aug. 10), Simpson returned to Twitter to explain his purpose with the initial video regarding Ruggs’ case.

“Hey, Twitter world. It’s me, yours truly,” he stated. “I did a tweet yesterday regarding the Henry Ruggs…his sentence. I wasn’t really focusing on his sentence. It was more of commenting on my sentence when I was here in Las Vegas.”

The 76-year-old dove into what Ruggs may experience amid his processing into the prison system based on his experience. 

Simpson said Ruggs would be sent to a prison called High Desert for “holding lockdown,” which he said was nicknamed “The Fishtank” and the worst part of the processing system because you’re left in a cell with nothing for days, possibly months. 

He said Ruggs may be considered a celebrity due to his football career and could be sent to the same prison Simpson was held in where other celebrities may be.

As Sis2Sis reported, Las Vegas police arrested then-22-year-old Ruggs after he killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog after crashing into them in November 2021. Police discovered he was recklessly driving up to 156 mph with a BAC of .161, two times the legal limit in the state.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Eric Bauman said the case haunted him because Tintor and her dog weren’t killed on impact but were burned to death.

Clark County District Court Judge Jennifer Schwartz called the incident one of the worst cases she had seen.

During his sentencing, Ruggs apologized for his actions and the “pain and suffering” he put on Tintor’s family. He also apologized to his family and teammates for letting them down, according to ESPN.
