THEY HAD FIVE ON IT: Bride, Caterer Arrested After Wedding Guests Hospitalized For Eating Food Laced With Marijuana

Florida police have arrested a bride and caterer nearly two months after guests reported

feeling sick and stoned at a Longwood wedding party in February.

According to Click Orlando, 42-year-old Danya Shea Svoboda and Jocelyn Bryant, 30, are accused of tampering with food that guests believe was laced with marijuana.

On Feb. 19, deputies responded to 400 Woodbridge Road to assist the Seminole County Fire Department with a medical call regarding the guests at the establishment. According to the incident report, 30-40 people attended the event that evening, and several complained of stomach pains and vomiting.

One man in his 40s asked to be transported to South Seminole Hospital because he was “feeling weird” and believed he had “drugs in him,” deputies said.

Medical transport was requested by a woman who told authorities she believed the food was “laced with cannabis” and vowed to prosecute.

Deputies said at least three others said they planned to press charges, and two other people were too incoherent to give a written statement.

While the bride and her husband, Andrew Svoboda, initially denied claims that they consented to or requested the food be laced with the drug, authorities attempted to contact Bryant, owner of Jocelyn’s Southern Kitchen. When they arrived at the scene, all catering products were gone or in the process of being thrown out.

However, authorities collected food items and multiple pieces of glassware as evidence for marijuana testing, including chocolate-covered strawberries, wine glasses, pudding shots, cookies, brownies, and a “handful of lasagna,” the report stated.

According to the arrest affidavit, the lasagna and a piece of bread tested positive for THC.

Lab tests also confirmed three of the wedding guests had urine tests that tested positive for the psychoactive drug, CNN reported.

On Monday, Svoboda and Bryant were taken into custody at the Seminole County Jail. The records show that the two women face multiple charges, including tampering, culpable negligence, and delivery of marijuana.
