Tiger Woods finished his first Masters since 2020, wrapping up the final round on Sunday.
Woods completed 72 holes against high-level competition for the first time since suffering leg injuries last February in a car crash. The five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods finished 47th in the tournament.
Woods’s most outstanding achievement was finishing the tournament.
“To go from where I was to get to this point, I’ve had an incredible team that has helped me get to this point and incredible support from — as I alluded to in the press conference on Tuesday, the amount of texts and FaceTimes and calls I got from players that are close to me throughout this entire time has meant a lot,” Woods said.
“Then to come here on these grounds and have the patrons — I played in a Covid year, and then I didn’t play last year. 2019 was the last time for me that I experienced having the patrons like this, and it’s exciting. It’s inspiring. It’s fun to hear the roars, to hear the hole-in-ones. I think Kitchen made one the other day. To hear that roar down there at the bottom on 16, just to hear that excitement of what this tournament brings out.
“We have just an amazing day today with now the wind is starting to pick up, it’s starting to swirl a little bit. I think it’s going to get tight, and it’s going to be fun to watch.”
Woods shared his thanks to fans and supporters via an Instagram post.
The caption read, “I didn’t play my best out there, but just to have the support and appreciation from all the fans, I don’t think words can describe that. Congratulations to @scottie.scheffler on an outstanding win. It’s been a special run.”

In March, Woods was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
In his 15-minute acceptance speech, Woods spoke about the challenges he overcame throughout his childhood and career, especially the racism he endured.
“One of the things that Dad had instilled in me is that he grew up in an era, same era as Charlie Sifford [the first Black golfer to play on the PGA Tour] and why my son is named after Charlie, is that you had to be twice as good to be given half a chance,” he said according to CNN.
“I was not allowed in the clubhouses where all the other juniors were. The color of my skin dictated that. As I got older, that drove me even more…So, as I was denied access into the clubhouses, that’s fine. Put my shoes on here in the parking lot. I asked two questions only, that was it: where was the first tee and what was the course record,” he continued.
“I had unbelievable parents, mentors, friends who supported me in the darkest of times and celebrated the highest of times. All of you allowed me to get here, and I want to say thank you very much from the bottom of my heart,” he said.
According to CNN, Woods confirmed he would play at the 150th Open Championship in Scotland this July.
