TikTokers Debate The Alleged Firing Of Walmart Workers Who Used Scanners As Guns In Viral Video

TikTok users are debating the alleged firing of Walmart employees for using scanners as guns in a viral video.

The video, posted on Jan. 9, shows eight Walmart workers walking or jumping from behind unsuspected places with a scanner in hand. Some appeared behind shelves and counters, while others rolled by on a bike. With “100 missed calls” by Dolo Stank as the soundtrack, they pointed their scanners at the camera as they lit up.

“They all got fired,” TikToker @mbkstank wrote in the video’s overlay text. In contrast, its caption is more buoyant, saying, “They got Walmart lit, though.”

The video has surpassed over 900,000 views and 60,000 likes within a few days.

Since it went live, the montage has received over 1,000 comments. TikTokers voiced their opinions about the Walmart employees allegedly being fired for the video in the comments. Many users think it was unnecessary to lay them off.

“Walmart is not in the position to fire anyone,” said @allureelements.

“Walmart act like firing someone is a flex. Cut it out. You need people,” commented @vincentjackson795.

“Y’all just havin fun, fired over that,” questioned @offixial.kxro.

“With all the craziness they have to deal with all day. Let them release some stress. WALMART ISN’T in no position to fire anyone. Can’t get workers,” said @waterfalls43.

On the flip side, other commenters feel that firing the workers is justified.

“Probably because Walmart take active shooting incidents serious. They are simulating shooting, duh,” @honeyeaz351 commented.

“This is a business, not a playground,” @marquisethearteest24 said.

“This issue here isn’t the ‘gun’ but the fact that they all should be working instead of playing on the clock,” @cordele13 said.

It is unclear whether or not the Walmart employees were fired for their recorded moment of fun. On Jan. 10, @mbkstank uploaded another video with more of the store’s workers doing the same thing done in the first montage.
