Timmy Kinner Pleads Guilty To Mass Stabbing That Killed 3-Year-Old At Her Birthday Party

Timmy Kinner, a Memphis native, has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder along with a long list of other charges stemming from a 2018 mass stabbing attack. According to the Idaho Statesman, Kinner was faced with a death sentence due to his suspected involvement in the killing of 3-year-old Ruya Kadir.

During Kadir’s June 2018 birthday party, the young girl suffered a stabbing attack that left eight other people wounded. Five of them were also children. Kinner was

accused of breaking into the Boise apartment building where the birthday party took place and going on a fatal stabbing attack.

Many were split on whether Kinner, 32, was mentally sound during the mass attack and also if he was mentally fit enough to undergo trial. Kinner was allegedly treated following his arrest but was ultimately considered by a judge to be fit to stand trial in 2019.

In addition to murder in the first degree, Kinner has pleaded guilty to several counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and use of a deadly weapon. According to the Idaho Press, Kinner was original death penalty trial was

set for September 2021, but has since been “vacated,” leaving Kinner’s possible conviction up in the air.

According to the Idaho Statesman, Kinner had no connection with the victims but was staying with a resident at the apartment complex. He’d allegedly been asked to leave the week prior to the seemingly random stabbing attack.

Most of the victims in the 2018 attack were refugees from Ethiopia and surrounding countries, while Kadir herself was the daughter of an Ethiopian woman.

“She was my world. And if no one stopped me, I could talk forever about my Ruya,” the young girl’s mother,  Bifituu Kadir, said at her memorial service. “…She came to us on her birthday, and she left on her birthday. Her name in Turkish means dream. And she came to us like a dream.”
