UPDATE: Tyre Sampson’s Funeral Held Following Tragic Amusement Park Death

The funeral for Tyre Sampson, a 14-year-old who tragically fell from an amusement park ride last month, has been held.

According to KSDK, funeral services were held in St. Louis County at Saint Louis University. Sampson was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Family, friends and loved ones all came to pay their respects and remember him.

Family friend Kelly Southhall said, “There’s a lot of love here. There’s a lot of support. No mother should have to go through this.”

Vida Weekly, a former teacher of his, said, “I would always tease him about the size of his shoe. He would joke and laugh it off. He would say, ’17! Say it real proud.'”

Rapper YK Osiris offered to cover funeral costs for a 14-year-old. He shared a post on social media:

“If anybody knows his family tell them to DM me because I want to pay for his funeral cost,” Osiris wrote.

However, Sampson’s father, Yarnell, has denied receiving any funds.

Osiris shared a video showing his donation on GoFundMe to prove the funds were sent.

As we previously reported, Sampson’s tragic death occurred while visiting the tourist spot Icon Park with his football team. He tragically fell to his death from the Free Fall drop tower at Icon Park.

Emergency services came to the park after a caller phoned 911, and several witnesses expressed their horror as Sampson fell from the Free Fall. Sampson was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services have been investigating the incident.

Yarnell hired civil rights attorney Ben Crump to represent him and his family.

Several memorials have been set up at Icon Park to honor Sampson’s life.

Sampson’s mother, Nekia Dodd, is still taking donations for extra funeral expenses via GoFundMe.
