VIDEO: 88-year-old Woman Cuts A Rug To Janet Jackson

Tagging Janet Jackson, Nina Alston posts a video of her 88-year-old mother Marybelle Alston, dancing to Jackson’s “All For You,” before bed. The video was recorded inside their Florida home on May 14.

“In the effort to getting my 88-year-old mom tired and ready for bed, she dances to your song. Good luck to me,” the Twitter post read.

The video captured the attention of not only Jackson herself, but also Missy Elliot, Vivica Fox, and more. In an interview with the Atlanta Black Star, Marybelle explained

that she loved to dance, saying, “it makes me happy.”

Nina posted the video of her mother the same day of the Buffalo shooting where the 18-year-old white supremacist killed many Black people inside of the Tops Friendly Market.

“The reason I posted it, that was the day of the shooting in New York, so I’m like, I want everybody to see what I see on a daily basis, even if it’s a minute long, that one minute will be a life-changer for somebody and that was my goal to accomplish, and obviously I think I did my job well,” Nina told the publication.

Nina’s post brought a lot of joy to many Twitter users.

One user tweeted, “You just KNOW she was wiping the dance floor in her day.”

Nina didn’t expect her post to gain so much attention even being featured on Good Morning America.

“I never expected this to be what it is now, and I was just doing it for fun to brighten people’s home with happiness and joy, and here we are,” Nina said.

Nina also stated that she takes care of her mom, which is challenging at times because of her mom’s dementia. Turning on music videos is a way to help Marybelle wind down for bedtime.

“I just put music on, and I just put my search on, and Janet Jackson popped up on one of the searches I did, and that’s the song I put on,” Nina said about how the moment with her mother went about.
